PV868 is an experimental performance by TeZ aimed at producing an audiovisual feed/stimulus which allows moving visual patterns to emerge directly in the brain of the viewer/listener. This stimulus is generated in real-time by a combination of flickering video, in the form of abstract lights and colour gradients, and synchronised synthetic sounds (binaural beats) distributed in a quadrophonic surround system. The elements are constantly recombined in different ways by means of ad-hoc created generative software. PV868 was inspired by the readings of John Geiger’s Chapel of Extreme Experience and W. G. Walter’s The Living Brain, and by previous research and experiments by Brion Gysin, Ian Sommerville, Tony Conrad, Paul Sharits, PTV, Hafler Trio, and Kurt Hentschläger and Granular Synthesis.

Maurizio Martinucci (aka TeZ) (IT) is an Italian multimedia artist and producer who has collaborated with amongst others Scanner, Taylor Deupree and Francisco Lopez. He uses technology as a means for exploring synesthesia and the relationship between sound and images. He focuses primarily on generative composition in interactive painting, live cinema and sound installations.
