Sonic Acts Biennial 2022: Festival celebrating art, technology and science.

[Catalogtree](https://catalogtree.net) studio is behind the identity and concept of this website, working with [Janine Zielman](https://janinezielman.com/about.html) on its development.

Catalogtree is a multidisciplinary design studio based in Arnhem (NL). It was founded in 2001 by Daniel Gross and Joris Maltha who met at Werkplaats Typografie. Nina Bender was part of studio from 2011 until 2020. The studio works continuously on commissioned and self initiated projects. Highly interested in self-organising systems they believe in 'Form Equals Behaviour'. Experimental tool-making, programming, typography and the visualization of quantitative data are part of their daily routine.

**Special and/or sensitive personal data that we process**
If you are younger than sixteen years old, you cannot use our website and/or services without the permission of your parents or legal guardian. - Sending press releases (when you are listed in our press database)

**VISITING OUR WEBSITE**

Our website is hosted by Hostnet B.V. in The Netherlands. Like most website operators, we process your IP address, as well as non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request to deliver a user-friendly, informative and relevant environment.

**TICKET SALES** 

 For the sale of tickets we use the Eventbrite, ticketing and registration platform, their privacy statement, is accessible here. If you purchase a ticket, Eventbrite collects, on our behalf, your name, e-mail address, country, birth date and telephone number, which the ticket company provides to us for the purpose of handling the agreement: for example for sending tickets, but also for providing info about changes or cancellations, and (anonymous) analytics. To achieve this, we record your data in our MailChimp customer database. Eventbrite receives your personal data for this.

**NEWSLETTERS AND INVITATIONS**

 When you register for a newsletter managed by Sonic Acts, we collect the following data: name and email address. We use the MailChimp email marketing automation services to send the newsletter and invitations to openings and events. MailChimp receives your personal data for this. Mailchimp is part of the Intuit group companies, their privacy statement is accessible here. You can unsubscribe from these emails or change your subscription; both options appear in the footer of an email that has been sent with MailChimp.

**SHOP**

When you make a purchase through the Sonic Acts Shop, you will be asked to provide data to fulfil the agreement, including the delivery of the product. This information is processed by WooCommerce, their privacy policy is accessible here. Payments in the shop go through IDeal or Paypal. WooCommerce does not process bank details. We collect information about the transaction, such as product details, purchase price, and the date and location of the transaction in accordance with tax obligations.
 
**JOB/ RESIDENCY APPLICATIONS AND OPEN CALLS**

When you apply for a job/residency vacancy or open call at Sonic Acts, we collect the following data: name, town or city, email address, telephone number, gender and other personal data contained in your LinkedIn profile, CV and/or letter of motivation. We process these personal data for the purpose of handling your job/residency or open call application. Optionally, you can provide us with other details like your personal website, work experience, and the answers to a number of questions we find relevant for the job/residency or open call application, e.g. why you want to work for Sonic Acts, what is your most relevant experience etc. We collect this data on the basis of our legitimate business interests, specifically in order to select the right person for the position. We use Homerun recruitment software, for recruitment and selection, their privacy statement is accessible here. Homerun receives your personal data for this. When a candidate has been taken on, a personnel file is maintained in accordance with legal obligations.

**FORMS, EMAILS AND CUSTOMER RELATIONS MANAGEMENT**\

If you send us an email (@sonicacts.com), the related personal data will be stored and processed for as long as is necessary, depending on the purpose of the form or the contents of your email, for it to be answered or processed properly. In addition, we may store emails we receive if this is necessary for us to properly carry out our regular activities. We use EMAIL SOFTWARE. We only operate the software ourselves and run it on our own servers. Our contacts’ email addresses may also be stored locally in the personal address books of Sonic Acts employees. Of course, if requested, we can remove your contact information from our systems entirely.

**EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY AND CAMERA SURVEILLANCE**

Photographs are taken for a range of different purposes during Sonic Acts events. Most frequently, they are intended for internal use and/or to advertise the success of an event. Ultimately, the documentation focuses on the event in general and the less attention lies on the depicted individuals. As a potential data subject of a photograph you have the right to object prior or subsequently. This means that pictures published by Sonic Acts must be deleted immediately following such an objection by way of the notice and take down procedure. If you would to issue us a notice, please use the contact details listed above.
 
Locations hosting Sonic Acts events can use camera surveillance for security purposes. The images produced by this camera surveillance are retained for a maximum of four weeks and are not shared with any third party, unless the data is required in the context of an investigation by the police or other authorities. **HOW LONG WE SAVE PERSONAL DATA**

We will keep your personal data only for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected or processed:
 
Marketing data (for instance, the newsletter): after you unsubscribe, we save this data for a maximum of 2 years.
Administrative data (like invoices, receipts, etc.): we are legally obligated to save the data for 7 years.
Applications: If you are selected the information related to your job/residency or open call application will end up in your personnel file. If you are not selected, we will keep your personal data until four weeks after you’ve been rejected, unless you provide consent for us to keep it for a longer time, e.g. to be included in a talent pool.
 
**YOUR RIGHTS**

The GDPR gives you various rights concerning your personal data. These rights include:
Right of access. You may submit to us free of charge a request for information about the processing of your personal data.
Right to rectification. At your request we will correct or add to your personal data if these are incorrect or incomplete, taking account of the purpose of the processing.
